Schiphol SmartGate Cargo is a joint project by the airport, customs and the air cargo industry to integrate monitoring of goods leaving the EU from Schiphol, setting the standard for future air cargo handling. Being smart also means being paperless, therefore Schiphol actively stimulates the use of e-freight.

There is a constant risk of lost or misplaced containers, stolen goods, spoiled and tainted food shipments that do not arrive in time to the final user, who is eagerly waiting for it. Three years ago we started to develop the prototype of our CTD and the ZTS is now fully ready for deployment.
New regulations amongst trading nations together with new technologies will require even greater information about ships and cargo, even before the vessel is loaded or leaves the port of origin.
