Workshop 1:

Optimizing warehousing and transportation using advanced analytics

We will present three analytical platforms that can optimizing various warehousing and transportation functions. They are IDEA, POD and D3TO.

  • IDEA (Instantly Discover Efficient Activities) – it’s a suite of tools that can help optimize waving, tasking and picking functions at a warehouse by turbocharging existing systems/WMS.  It aims to bring together advanced analytical optimization algorithms, simulation and machine learning algorithms to make intelligent operational decisions.
  • POD (Packaging on Demand) - given the rise of dimensional based fee structures in today’s transportation market, as well as the reduction in overall trucking capacity, shippers are facing new challenges in their supply chains.  Companies can tackle these challenges through advanced analytics, working with customers to reduce their overall shipping expense.  In this section we will discuss how packaging space utilization tools work toward the goal of storing and shipping less air!
  • D3TO (DHL Dynamic Decision Transportation Optimization) – this session will explore the connection between freight savings and data analysis, learn how to weigh the business benefits of dedicated and private fleets, and see how applying freight optimization can lead to lower rates in both the truckload and LTL arenas.

Takeaways

  • Strategy to optimize warehousing functions like waving, tasking and picking.
  • Process to optimize carton sizes at a facility
  • Tactical process to optimize a complex transportation network

Keeping your employees Connected, Engaged and Productive

In today’s tight labor market, it’s a struggle to attract and retain the employees we need. It seems the odds are against us, and today’s young people aren’t loyal, they lack focus and they job hop at the drop of a hat.

Or do they?

This working session will give you some insight into the real issue and provide you with actionable ideas and tools that you can put into motion right away. The good news is there are ways to do this that don’t include higher salaries and outlandish perks.

Where's My Stuff?
Building a Blockchain use case for the real world

The term blockchain brings about a buzz. There are lots of opinions. Some want it so bad, they are looking for a problem to throw it at. Others want to see what it can do. Most reports show a lot of ideas, but very little by way of results. Most speeches talk in generalities with no clear route to getting something tangible.

Let's be different.

This interactive working session will have you create a real-world blockchain use case from scratch. Walk through the process and see it for yourself. The technology can be tricky, but with the right experience, a most powerful tool in your supply chain tool box.

The cost of re-delivery: Increasing First Attempt Delivery Rates

First Attempt Delivery Rate is a direct indication of the successful deliveries made in the first attempt. The follow on cost for a 2nd delivery is equivalent to delivering 3 packages.

An improved FADR is a win-win situation for the customer, the delivery executive, the service provider & the brand.

Here is how a higher FADR can help you with:

  • Increased customer loyalty
  • Reduced costs involved in multiple deliveries
  • Lesser hassle of storing packages and management personnel

The New Retail: The “3 Headed Monster, and why you need all 3 Heads & the Role of Freight & Logistics has!"

Today’s “Purchase Landscape” is unlike anything this world has even seen, primarily because the Internet has created a new Channel of Distribution that allows you to “get whatever you want”, practically now "whenever you want" via your mobile device, and thus traditional shopping as we know is not dead, but it has evolved.  But the Question is, what is the right approach for your business?

And then HOW do you manage your Freight & Logistics accordingly?  One Size definitely does NOT fit all!

The Answer quite frankly depends on what exactly IS your business, how much money do you have to spend out the gate, and how much risk do you want to take before you go "all in".

From Buiced.com to Amazon.com to Walmart (and oh by the way, Walmart.com), Ray went from ZERO to WALMART, and will help you understand the trials & tribulations that he has gone through and the road he continues to navigate as he sets his sites on a Global Brand benefiting the health of consumers across the World!

Learn how Ray quickly realized, he is as much a Freight & Logistics Company, as he is a Marketing one!

‘Visionary to the Point of Lunacy’: Overcoming the Complexity of Capturing Data for Food & Beverage Blockchains

The potential for blockchain in the perishable supply chain is huge: guaranteeing food safety, fighting food fraud, and unlocking real supply chain transparency.

But how do you move from proofs-of-concept and pilots with individual vendors and commodities to larger-scale implementation across your broader supply chain? What is the true value of this potentially visionary technology for food supply chain participants of all sizes, and how can it be harnessed to address concrete industry use cases that increase revenue and boost profitability? In this session, iTrade will bring its 20-year history as a global perishables supply chain software leader to bear on the real challenges companies are facing as they begin to implement food blockchains and also give skeptics some food-for-thought that pushing past the ‘point of lunacy’ is something that is not only scalable, but also worth the effort.
