Frank Sportolari is the president of UPS Germany. In this role he is responsible for all operations, strategy and business development in UPS’s largest single market outside the United States with more than 20,000 employees.
Sportolari has spent his entire 32-year UPS career based in Europe. He began in 1986 in Munich, Germany, as a trainee in the Finance and Accounting department. He then held various positions of increasing responsibility within the Finance and Accounting function, including working as the controller in Munich, Cologne and Neuss for UPS in Germany, along with further controller assignments in Spain/Portugal, Italy, and UPS’s European headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. From 2004 to 2006 he was vice president of strategy for UPS Europe, also based in Brussels.
He came to his current role from Italy, where he was UPS country manager from 2002 to 2004, and again from 2008, with responsibility for managing UPS’s operations and implementing the company’s business strategies in the Italian market. He accepted his current position at UPS Germany in September 2011.
Sportolari is a native of Chicago and holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Illinois. Before joining UPS, he spent six years working for the U.S. Department of Defense in Germany. He currently serves as the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany.
